Brussels – 5th February, 2026 – BICS, a Proximus Global Company, and leading international communications enabler, has partnered with Anapaya, the provider of SCION-based secure connectivity solutions for critical networks, to develop and deploy next-generation SCION internet technology on a global scale. Together, the companies will build this new type of networking into BICS’ global backbone, marking a significant step forward in secure, resilient, and sovereign, international connectivity.
SCION (Scalability, Control, and Isolation On Next-generation networks) is a new internet architecture, designed specifically with security and trust at its core. It empowers organizations with direct control over the paths traffic takes, ensuring compliance and preventing scenarios where domestic traffic unintentionally crosses national borders. Originally developed at ETH Zurich, SCION has already been adopted as the backbone of interbank communications in Switzerland and is rapidly gaining traction in highly regulated environments like financial services, utilities, and healthcare.
